This is ultimately disgusting.
Websites devoted to trashing and blackmailing other students are starting to rapidly develop all over the web.
These sites let anonymous surfers post messages online about anybody they wish, saying whatever they wish, and get away with it.
Girls and guys alike are getting torn to shreds by college students they hardly even know, and in some cases, have never even met.
I learned of this trend a few weeks ago, when a girl from my sorority came into my apartment sobbing. Apparently someone anonymously had mentioned her name, saying how she had no hope in life and that she had "been around" with frats. Other web surfers on the site went on to comment on this post, trashing her even more, by pointing out her physical flaws and starting more rumors about her.
This had went on for three more blog posts, and over fifteen comments.

Now I know that it is controllable what people can say over the internet, but seriously, by the age of 19 and 20, people should be more mature than this. It's disgusting to see such nasty comments coming from my peers, who I may see riding on the bus with me or sitting next to me in class.
In fact, last week I myself had witnessed a girl in my lecture hall posting a comment on the website herself. This girl was not only one of the kindest girls in my class, but she was also my study buddy. It scares me to think that such kind people in real-life could be saying such unfriendly and spiteful things online.
