life lessons from a motorcycle driver... :)

I would like to share to you one of my blog posts. These would be about a conversation I had with a certain motorcycle driver in our place. Somehow, these convo opened my eyes about the reality of life, and the weight of the choices we make. The choices we make; big or small; would be a huge factor on what our life would turn out to be... :)
---> (these conversation was originally exchanged using the Visayan language, i only translated it to English.)
..................
Manong Driver:
"Miss, if there would be one thing that I truly regret in my life, it would be the fact that I did not do my best back when I was still at school. If I did, I wouldn't be doing this job at all.
I mean, look at me now, I can barely buy enough rice and food for my family. Even a hundred pesos a day, which is quite unlikely, would be enough to help us sustain our basic commodities. If I really knew then what I have known now, I would not have put to waste the money given for me to achieve proper education..."

Me: *nodding with what he had just said * Mister, how many children do you have" (i know that what I said was quite off-track, but I really want to know the specifics of his living conditions)

Manong Driver: "Just 2, and they're studying at the community school (Cat. Grande Nat'l High School) I really praythat they would do well in school, so they wouldn't end up just like me. I mean, think of it-- if you'd finish school; you'd have a nice job. And you'd surely have airconditioned rooms wherever you'd be working." *I laughed*  "But then, look at us-- we suffer the scorching heat on a daily basis, be drenched and get filthy with sweat, and we sometimes even suffer from lice-- and still we earn so little. See that?! If you'd just finish school; not only will you have loads of money, you'd even be better-looking. Unlike us, who have to be drenched in sweat and still be slumped in poverty. We earn nothing but age lines and the like-- We become uglier as toil and burden takes its toll on us...."

ME: "Hey Mister, I'm at my destination. Thanks for everything you've shared with me. Don't worry, I do believe that your children would do their very best in everything. Of course they will, especially with the fact that they've seen you exerted so much effort to be the best father for them. They surely would appreciate that. I'd also pray for you and your family. So, see you in the streets next time. Again mister, thanks for everything."

-----by this time, I arrived at Petron Bangkal, paid my Php15.00 fare, and bade my farewell and goodluck to Manong Driver.

Oftentimes, we take for granted the things we have at this moment; thinking that life would all be easy and good in the future given our circumstances, and that we could get through it with a bit of suave and finesse in our part. But that isn't always the case.

Even if we are born with silver spoons in our mouths; it doesn't give us the assurance that we'd still have the same lifestyle in the end

Things can shift; good or bad; all because of the decisions we make in our lives. Not everything we have or is taking pleasure in right now would forever be ours; a simple yes or no could change the whole course of it
So please, please, let's just be more careful with the things that we choose to partake. Life goes by so fast; one minute we're teenagers, and the next time we decide to open our eyes again; we're already in our mid-40's. To think of it, each minute we live, decisions are necessary. Even the decision to live at that moment; would also depend on us, seriously. So we should be more cautious and aware of what we decide on. Because sometimes, there are just some things we might just regret on doing, and some things which we can't have back or experience all over again

Oh well, I'm no good chooser myself. I am no angel. I also messed up with my life a lot of times. But the thing is, I learned from it and tried my best to be back on track. I wouldn't allow these bumps to actually control my life and lead it to further danger. Hell, I'd be more of a loser by doing that. Hahaha. :))) (GEE. seriously, i'm losing coherence in this entry. the flow of emotions is just too great. My brain works faster than my hands. hahaha. :))) Anyways, I'd leave it as that. I really just feel like sharing some of my thoughts today. LOL! XD
