so You're Bored... Day 4

So, it’s Thursday.  Meaning, it’s almost the end of the week.  But it’s not.  So it’s like a tease.

I woke up early today (7:30) because I attended a workout in the park.  It was nice, but that meant that by ten o’clock I was getting boredom symptoms.

After my failed attempt at the New York Times crossword of the day, I found myself skimming the local section, reading what was going on in the life of Pittsburghians.

Little did you know it:  there was a whole LIST of things going on in my city!  And  many of these events were for FREE!

FREE!!

So… I circled some of the ones that sounded interesting and called up my friend.

This included: Andy Warhol Art exhibit, free Rita’s Italian ices in the center park (along with storytelling for the little kids), and last but not least… a UFC fighting match in our city’s arena!

We headed out on an adventure to the center of the city.

Let me just tell you, I’ve never felt more part of my city than today.  Being out and about with so many strangers who love your city as much as you do is something to feel good about.  It was fun to see a different side of my area as well as take part in the free activities going on downtown.

I was probably the only young adult sitting indian-style at the story-telling session.

Oh, and by the way, the Italian ice hit the spot.  For sure.

I ordered Margarita flavor.  How fantastic does that sound?  Too bad it didn’t have any alcohol…. KIDDING.

But the main event of our night was the fighting match.

Wow.

I’ve never actually experienced a real fight in my life, let alone a professional fighting match. It was awesome!  There was even a girl-fight… and these girls were totally legit.  They were not the type that you’d want to mess with.

But, unfortunately, I only took one picture this entire day.  And it was on my phone.  Lame.

Here it is if you wanna view it.

So You're Bored... Day 3

SO YOU’RE STILL BORED. DAY 3.

Resolution: Contact some people you haven’t seen in a whileand catch up.

I’ve been really negligent with some of the relationships inmy life recently, and today, I took the time and effort to fix this issue.

I called off my non-existant work shift today and took mysister out for a girl’s day. Living our own individual lives, with different friends, activities, andinterests, we completely lost base with each other.

First, we hit Starbucks and got our staple drinks: coffeelight frapp for me and hot chocolate for the sister J

Then, off to the nail center to get some good mani’s andpedi’s before our vacation on Friday.

Lastly, we drove over to the mall to frolick in the storesand try crazy outfits on.

It was a blast.

We talked about friends, boys, school, and life in general.  It was a shock.  My little sister is not as “little” asI keep thinking she is.  It is  obvious that she’s really growing up.

She gave me advice on my boy issues and I couldn’t believehow mature her words were.  It wasso comforting to finally have my best friend back again.

Today was one of the best times we’ve had together in along, long time.

-----

After our trip, I called up a few old friends and chattedfor a while.  It was good to hearfrom these familiar voices and I felt as if my life was slowly becoming wholeagain.

Final word: Take time to really contact the ones you’ve grown apart from just to seehow they’re doing.  It’s amazinghow good you feel afterwards.
