I heard Suzie, my daughter, talking to someone when I walked by her room. I looked around her room, but I couldn’t see anyone but her.
I thought this was strange and decided to watch for a while. Then I heard what Suzie was saying. “Suzie, stand in the corner to think about the mistakes you have made. You often behave badly and never listen to me,” Suzie said. Then I saw her toy bear in the corner of the room. It was clear that Suzie was talking to her toy bear.
“I’m really tired of you. I don’t know how to deal with you anymore,” Suzie went on with her “conversation”. “Whenever I start to work, you always want to play games with me, and you often make my life difficult.”
Then Suzie ran to the toy bear and said, “I have done all of that just to spend more time with you. I know you have lots of work to do, so I want to help you with it, but I never expect that my help has brought you trouble.” “I am afraid of being alone and just want to be with you all the time,” she said in a low voice.
Suzie’s words made me very sad. I hadn’t done my duty as a mother. I hadn’t paid enough attention to what was in my daughter’s mind. It was time for me to make some changes in my life. I would try my best to care about and understand her.
