When students are united behind a common message, they can and will be heard. Take, for example, the Community Coalition of Los Angeles, which organized thousands of students to campaign for mandatory college preparatory curriculum in all LAUSD schools. As part of their campaign, they signed petitions, made shirts, marched and testified at a school board meeting. After hearing hours of speeches by students and parents, only one member of the LAUSD school board voted against the proposal. Will your Day of Action be the next success story?
