ISSUES IN EDUCATION : OTHER ISSUES : BUDGET

Budget

By govfight mail
Recently I had heard about Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to cut the school's budget in all of California to make up for the debt we're in. But I don't think he realizes that he's taking out a lot of the finances for the all ready financially troubled school districts. Making these cuts will completely corrupt the education for millions of children, not everyone can afford private schools. The teachers of these public schools won't have the money to buy the simple necessities need for their lessons they teach. It's been proposed that many teachers already will lose their jobs as well as the school's vice principals, counselors. and teacher's aids. Classroom sizes already extremely high, but with the loss of these teachers it will sky rocket, and less time for one-on-one assistance. The children in school right now are our future, why is government limiting our education, and not taking the money out of places where it's less needed like acting, music industries, over priced companies, big shot lawyers, but not the education. They can not sacrifice any more. It's time to stand up against the governor, before he was elected into office didn't he say that he wouldn't take away from education, and support it? Why is he turning against his word now??? Give the students a chance to get the most knowledge they can, don't steal it from them.

govfight's solution:
people should protest the governor's proposal for budget cuts, and don't step down if it passes, keep fighting it.

So join and get friends to join the Day of Action coming up on April 18th to make sure all legislators hear that we students are serious - we want to protect our education. bI think we should look at how money is spent, who controls that and figure out there too.
