ISSUES IN EDUCATION : OTHER ISSUES : SUBSTITUES AND LOCK DOWNS

Substitues and Lock Downs

By little_miss_anni mail

Schools need to have more competent substitue teachers! If the school is having a lock down, and it is not a drill, DON'T ask one of your students to get out of the classroom, go outside to get to the office, and get a key so the classroom door can be locked! There's a reason that all students are to remain in a classroom during these types of situations! If you are a substitute and don't have a key to the classroom, call up the office and ask them to bring up a key! Also, you should remain quiet! You shouldn't be singing, on microphones if there is a possibility that there is someone outside with a gun! That's just telling them, "Hey, here's some bodies you can shoot!" And, you what teacher in their right mind would call up the office to ask for an escort to go to the bathroom! If there is a lock down, you shouldn't be thinking of going to the bathroom, you should be thinking of keeping the kids under control, quiet and safe!

little_miss_anni's solution:
Train subs for these kinds of situations!
