This project has been an annual project in my church. Each year we all go out and ask people to sponsor us to not eat for 30 hours to represent how children in Africa live each day. 2900 children die each day from starvation and malnutrition. During the fast all of the participants come to the church and turn in our donations. Then we join together in worship and prayer and play games. We don't do anything specific to prepare for ourselves, there will be emergency supplies if they are necessary, but other than that we will fast for the 30 hours and the youth leaders will provide pizza and drinks at the end of the fast.

Action on Obesity.

Being only 13 years old, support may be rather difficult to find towards this project, mostly because i am a minor, and 'just another voice in the crowd'. I want my voice to be heard. A few months ago, i wieghted an astounding 166lbs, clearly obese for my hieght of 5 foot 3. I was unhappy with my self, and was tired and frustrated of being known as 'the fat girl' ect. I was tired of never having anything to where, and always eatingmore than my friends. I dieted, exercised, and have lost 33lbs so far. My eating habits changed from 5,000 calories a day, to only 800. Many people have called me anorexic, but when you look at my body, its not something i would easily be accused of being. What i want is to inform people of thier eating habits, but not to the point where it may lead to anorexia. I am NOT anorexic, and clinical data is there to support this. Obesity ranges from children under the age of 10, to the oldest people in the world. This project is to spread the word: STOP EATING CRAP, GET HEALTHY. You'll feel (and look) better. Do this for your own well-being, on your own behalf.

Create script.
Compile movies from youth around the world that will help support points made. I'm aiming for a movie that is a bit like Michal Moores but maybe a bit less rash, leaving more open room for thought. I want people to leave thinking, 'well maybe I should look up some more information about this global warming thing...it seems pretty urgent.'

The Conservation Leadership Corps is a year round program in Seattle that offers environmental community service and recreation opportunities to local high school students. We do one service project a month in an area greenspace (trailwork, planting, removal of invasive species) and then we do something fun like go for cool hike, take a snowshoe trip, or go rock climbing. Don't worry, our program is FREE and we provide all the gear, leadership, and transportation...

Earth Day 2007

We want to get as many people as possible to learn about our Earth and the environmental issues that all of us are facing today. The festival got about 10,000 people last year, and I think 15,000 the year before. But the point is not necessarily about numbers, but getting a good response from those who attend. We want to help them realize why and how they can care for the environment. However, I have a personal goal to exceed both those numbers while I'm an intern here. And doing productive PR is extremely important to make sure that this actually happens. After all, no one will come if they don't know about it. I have currently gotten over twenty online postings, and I work more on those each day. It's a free event, so bring your family and friends!

Earth Day Grocery Project

I, personally, got my club involved in this project by getting local grocery stores to donate paper bags to our Art club. We then visited a local Elementary school and did a presentation where they learned about Earth Day and decorated their bags. We returned the bags to the stores where they will be used for customers on Earth Day.
