Meet the LA Project Teams

K-Town Running Club
The K-Town Running Club will build community in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles through an all-ages running club which will hold regular runs in the neighborhood. The Club's first major event will be a group run at the Nike Human Race on August 31.

Street Sweep Venice Beach
Street Sweep Venice Beach aims to involve the Venice Beach communtiy in a one-day street clean-up walk. Each participant will solicit pledges per pound of trash collected, and the money collected will fund the reconstruction of local recreation areas.

Play City Beach Bash
Beach Bash is an environmental education day for low-income students, meant to be a catalyst for change in ocean stewardship while teaching about different beach sports, including: beach volleyball, kayaking, surfing and wind surfing. The event will also be a fundraiser to fund a "Beach Shack" where low-income youth can check out beach sports equipment to use when they go to the beach.

Unity Through Sports
UTS will utilize the power of sports to bring together conflict groups and alleviate their differences through teamwork and sports mobility.

LEAD LA
LEAD LA will work to promote college awareness and proper study habits among high school students by inviting them to college campuses for athletic games and tutoring/mentorship sessions.

Just Like You

Just Like You plans to create global awareness in youth through the propagation of knowledge in world cultures by sharing international sports and games in afterschool programs.

TEAM (Together Empowering Athletes in Mentorship)
TEAM will create a safe and empowering environment for girls between the ages of 12-15 by providing a mentorship program and pairing them with local collegiate female athletes to promote healthy habits and lifestyles. This will also enable athletes to give back to their communities and gain support.

Shoeless 5K
The Shoeless 5K will be a footrace to improve the quality of life and create public awareness of the impoverished; the required entry fee will be a pair of gently worn shoes, which will be donated to a person in need.
