I'm so excited to introduce Play City to the 2010 Dreams for Women calendar featuring female athletes from around North America. The calendar highlights athletes who will be competing in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games.
By the way, how cool is cover of the calendar? "One day, saying someone plays like a girl will be a compliment." Love it!
The calendar is brought to us by The Antigone Foundation, a Vancouver-based and student run organization. The goal of the calendar is to "do something special to leverage the historic 2010 year and create a social legacy for Canadian women and girls and to honor Canadian and U.S. female athletes competing in our city next year."
Featured in the calendar are the following female athletes:
Rachel Armstrong, Can. Volleyball
Julia Clukey, U.S. Luge
Virginia Johnston, First Nations Snowboard
Erin Hamlin, U.S. Luge
Kristen Manley-Casimir, Can. Volleyball
Cathy Priestner-Allinger, Can. Speed Skating
Sara Renner, Can. Cross Country Skiing
Michelle Roark, U.S. Freestyle Skiing
Angela Ruggiero, U.S. Hockey
Robbi Weldon, Can. Para-Nordic Skiing
Ashley Wagner, U.S. Figure Skating
Katie Willis, Can. Ski Jumpers
According to the Antigone Magazine blog, the calendar is a great way to represent female athletes as real world role models.
As an organization based in Vancouver, we wanted to highlight the powerful women who will be competing in the Games and work with them to bring attention to the importance of women’s leadership and women’s equality! We believe that these women are fabulous role models for young women and we wanted to work with them to ensure that the Vancouver Olympics has a legacy of leadership for young Canadian women!
You can find more information about the calendar, including how to purchase the calendar for individuals (as a sweeeet holiday gift!) or for your organization by checking out Antigone Magazine blog.
