READ LESSI Beat Gasoline by riding the San Francisco Muni. When I first moved to the city, I made the decision to remain car-free after weighing the pros and cons of my options. Obviously, using public transit was the most financially friendly way to go considering it can take me almost everywhere I need to go, but the other deal breaker was the peace of mind I'd be getting knowing I am contributing to the "greening up" of San Francisco. I recently read about the city's “Zero Emissions 2020” plan which includes replacing all Muni's oldest diesel buses with hybrid diesel-electric buses. This hybrid effort will ultimately lead to this city having the third-largest hybrid bus fleet in the nation. I love San Francisco!
