Eligibility
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. To participate in the Prize Campaign (whether submitting or rating an Entry) you must be a legal resident of the State of California, a registered Noisemaker at YouthNoise.com, between the ages of 13 to 26 at the time of entry. Entrant is not limited on number of Entries, but each Entry must be unique. Entrant will only be allowed one vote to rank Entries per Noisemaker/email address per 24 hour period. Employees of Sponsor, its licensed dealers, agents, affiliates and Prize Campaign partners, and employees' immediate families are not eligible to enter. Immediate family members include relatives living at the same address as an employee. Prize Campaign is void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. This Prize Campaign is intended for viewing in the United States only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to United States law. You are welcome to participate, but are not able to win this Prize Campaign if you are not located within the State of California.
Prize Campaign Goal
Participants submit videos, photographs, art, audio or text with a story of their experiences in California's educational system. Photo, video, audio or art entries may include a 50 word or less summary for the entry; however this is not a requirement. The summary will not be considered in the judging process. All submissions must be original and exclusive work of the entrant. Designs that have won other competitions or have been previously published in any other form or, in the sole discretion of Sponsor or the judges, duplicate the work of others is not acceptable.
To Enter the Prize Campaign
Access www.RightToLearnCA.org and follow instructions to submit your original Entry. You will be permitted, at your option, to provide in no more than 50 words the summary for video, audio, photography or art submissions; however you are not required to do so and any rationale provided will not be considered in the judging process. Entry will require the registration as a Noisemaker at YouthNoise.com. All Entries become the property of Sponsor and can be used in other promotional material as Sponsor sees fit. Entries will not be returned. By entering the Prize Campaign, you consent to the posting of the Entry (and summary provided) on the web site and other partnering sites to promote the issue of California education reform.
Submissions must be made in English or Spanish, however entries will be judged in English via the automatic translation service provided by Google.com at http://www.google.com/translate_t. Each video, audio, photo, art or written documentation of participation must be submitted in the name of one, and only one, entrant although the Entry can be a group project. PRIZE WILL BE ONLY AWARDED TO THE ENTRANT IN WHOSE NAME THE ENTRY WAS SUBMITTED. You must also provide your email address, mailing address, phone number, age and YouthNoise name. Sponsor, its licensed dealers, affiliates and Prize Campaign partners, are not responsible for inaccurate, fraudulent, incomplete, illegible, tampered with, misdirected, late or stolen Entries or transmissions, or problems of any kind whether mechanical, human or electronic.
Photos and art submissions need to be submitted as a JPEG or GIF no larger than 600 pixels wide X 400 pixels high at 72dpi resolution. Please submit all photos with a horizontal orientation if possible.
Video files must be formatted in MPG, MOV, FLV or WMV. Mobile phone video can be uploaded in its original, smaller dimensions. Videos must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
Text submissions must be a minimum of 100 words and no more than 2000 words in length.
Audio files must be submitted as an MP3. Audio files must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
By submitting an Entry, you represent and warrant that: (i) Your Entry is your own original creation and does not infringe any other person's or entity's rights including, but not limited to, copyright, trademark and rights of publicity or privacy; and (ii) you have obtained permission, if applicable, from the people featured in your Entry to enter this Prize Campaign. Any Entry that includes content the Sponsor deems inappropriate, indecent or obscene, as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion, will not be eligible. By way of example, and without limiting any other provisions in these Official Rules, Entries may NOT contain:
- Any copyrighted material not in the public domain or for which you have not obtained the rights to use;
- 3rd party voice-overs for which you have not obtained the rights to use;
- 3rd party stock photography or artwork for which you have not obtained the rights to use;
- Nudity, lewd or vulgar behavior; offensive language and/or gestures.
All approved Entries submitted will be posted to www.RightToLearnCA.org.
Prize Campaign Submissions Period
To be considered for prizes, submission of entries must be received between November 5, 2007, 12:01am PST and January 15, 2008, 11:59pm PST. Entries collected beyond January 15 will not be eligible for prizes under this Prize Campaign.
Submissions Rating Period
The public can help determine which Entries are judged by the Advisory Panel Judges by rating them based on the following criteria.
- Inspirational: The story told in the Entry should inspire others to commit to advocating for fundamental educational reform in the state of California.
- Relevant: The story told in the Entry communicates themes applicable to a broad cross-section of California communities and is related to educational success for all students.
- Effectively communicated: The story told in the Entry is presented in a manner that is interesting, compelling and clear.
The public will be invited to rate the Entries throughout the submissions period of November 5, 2007 through January 15, 2008. One vote per Noisemaker / email address per Story per 24 hour period. Entrants may vote/rate their own Entry, but may only vote on their Entry once in a 24 hour time period per NOISEmaker or email address. Each Entry must receive a minimum of 20 ratings to be considered for the final judging.

Judging
Entries with a minimum of 20 ratings, across all media categories, will be reviewed by an internal YouthNoise judging team. That internal team will narrow down the entries and identify the 20 most compelling entries. The site-based rankings will account for 20 percent of the final score for each entry. The 20 most compelling entries will then be reviewed by a separate Advisory Panel of judges, whose decisions will be final. Entries will be judged based on the following equally weighted criteria:
- Inspirational: The story told in the Entry should inspire others to commit to advocating for fundamental educational reform in the state of California.
- Relevant: The story told in the Entry communicates themes applicable to a broad cross-section of California communities and is related to educational success for all students.
- Effectively communicated: The story told in the Entry is presented in a manner that is interesting, compelling and clear.
Contest Prizes
PRIZE WILL BE ONLY AWARDED TO THE ENTRANT IN WHOSE NAME THE ENTRY WAS SUBMITTED. The five winning Entries will be awarded an Apple MacBook or equivalent computer (approximate retail value: $1,100) and a trip to Sacramento to tell their stories in person to a roundtable of key education decision-makers. The trip to Sacramento will be scheduled sometime between the dates of January 1 and December 31, 2008 at YouthNoise's sole discretion. Winners will be given a minimum of one-week notice of when the trip is going to take place.
Prize Package Includes
Round-trip transportation for winner between the major metropolitan transportation hub (airport, bus or train terminal) nearest the winner's home (determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion) and the State Capitol in Sacramento, CA (determined at the sole discretion of Sponsor). Also included in the package are hotel accommodations for up to 2 nights (determined at the sole discretion of the Sponsor). Approximate retail value of each trip package: $600 depending on the location of winner's home as well as costs of transportation at the time of reservation. Sponsor will make all travel arrangements. Dates of the trip are not flexible and if you are unable to travel on such dates, you will forfeit the trip. Prize package does not include travel to or from transportation hub, taxes, insurance, telephone charges, personal expenses, gratuities or any other item not specifically described in these Official Rules. All expenses for any of the foregoing are the sole responsibility of the winner. Some travel restrictions may apply. Prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable and no substitutions allowed; except, at Sponsor's sole discretion, a prize of equal or greater value may be substituted.

Winner Notification
The five winners will be notified by email on or about January 30, 2008 requesting mailing address and phone number and must respond to that email within 48 hours. Upon receipt of the contact information from the finalists, Sponsor will overnight mail affidavits of eligibility/releases which must be completed, notarized and returned within 48 hours. If a winner is a minor, the winner's parent/legal guardian must sign and return all required documents. If alternate winner cannot be located or does not respond to claim the prize within 48 hours after notification, Sponsor reserves the right either to attempt to locate another alternate winner or not to award the prize. Sponsor reserves the right to decrease the total number of finalists if any potential finalists fail to respond in a timely fashion.
General Conditions
All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the Prize winner. If Prize winner is a minor, prize will be awarded in name of parent/legal guardian. By acceptance of prize, winner (and Prize winner's parent/legal guardian) agrees without limitation to the use of Prize winner's entry, name, photograph and/or likeness for publicity purposes without any additional compensation, except where prohibited by law. Entrants (and Prize winner's parent/legal guardian) agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor, which are final and binding in all matters related to this Prize Campaign. Sponsor, its licensed dealers, agents, affiliates and Prize Campaign partners, are not responsible for entries that for any reason are late, lost or misdirected cannot be downloaded or reproduced etc. Sponsor may prohibit an entrant from participating in a Prize Campaign or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Prize Campaign by cheating, hacking, deception or other unfair playing practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Sponsor's representatives. Also, by entering the Prize Campaign, you (and finalists' parent/legal guardians) agree that Sponsor and its respective representatives, agencies, affiliates, subsidiaries, Prize Campaign partners, directors, officers and employees have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind resulting from participation in the Prize Campaign, the acceptance, participation in, use or misuse of any prize, or technical, hardware, software or telephone failures of any kind, cost or unavailable network connections, fraud, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, whether caused by Sponsor, users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Prize Campaign or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions which may damage a user's system or limit your ability to participate in the Prize Campaign. Sponsor is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of this Prize Campaign, including but not limited to errors in the advertising, Official Rules, selection and announcement of the Prize winners and distribution of the prize. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or amend this Prize Campaign, in whole or in part, at any time without notice, if any factor, including without limitation virus, bugs, or non-authorized human intervention, interferes with its conduct as contemplated by these Official Rules. In case of dispute, entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet Access Provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institute, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE THE WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE PRIZE CAMPAIGN MAY BE IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK REMEDIES AND DAMAGES (INCLUDING ATTORNEYS' FEES) FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW, INCLUDING CRIMINAL PROSECUTION.
