Crackdown on Guns, or Leggo My Ammo?
With 17% of students carrying weapons to school, it’s no wonder that many live in fear of being harmed at one of the places they should feel safe at. Many gun advocates claim that bus drivers and teachers should be able to bring guns to work in order to defend themselves or other students in case one of their charges pulls a weapon and threatens their safety. Opponents say that this would increase the danger of students if another student were to get ahold of the weapon, if it accidentally fired off on its own, or the carrier of the weapon didn’t know how to properly use it. Should teachers, bus drivers, and others placed with the responsibility of caring for kids be able to carry a weapon to protect them?
