Tweet & Take Action for World Water Day

World Water Day is March 22, and the United Nations has chosen "Clean Water for a Healthy World" as the 2010 theme. Each year, 1,500 cubic kilometers of wastewater are produced worldwide, and it is often not used productively for irrigation or energy purposes. In developing countries, lack of regulations and resources lead to 80 percent of waste being released untreated.

The lack of clean water poses dangers to human and environmental health, and World Water Day is designed to make clean, accessible water a global priority.

In honor of World Water Day, from March 11 to March 25, you can take simple actions to join YouthNoise and Link Media in raising money for clean water. All you need is your Twitter account and a couple minutes! Here's how:

1. Follow YouthNoise on Twitter. That's it. Just go to twitter.com/youthnoise and click "follow." For every new follower we get from March 11 to March 25, we will donate $1 to a water organization (up to $150).

2. Retweet YouthNoise. For the next two weeks, we will be posting facts, links and other info about World Water Day. Just retweet any of our posts tagged #ynwwd (will look something like this: "1 in 8 people doesn't have clean water. Follow YN & RT to raise $ for World Water Day! #ynwwd"). For each RT of our water tweets, we will donate an additional $1 to the cause (up to $150).

3. Spread the word. We will donate up to $300 total to support clean water programs, but we need your help! Tell your friends to follow and retweet us on Twitter. Thank you for your support!
