The RE*Generation Charm Contest is over, and you have chosen (by internet public vote) the big winner of a “Wake-Up Trip” to Africa with Virgin Unite…to see first-hand how activism is being implemented on a global scale! The contest—to design a wireless phone charm which anyone can attach to their cell phone—was intended to give young people across the U.S. an innovative way to demonstrate their commitment to giving ALL young people a voice, especially youth on the margins. In addition to the once-in-a-lifetime trip to Africa, the contest winner will see their design brought to life in charms produced and distributed by Virgin Mobile USA.

Paul D., 17-years-old
"Anything can happen if they see that energy."

Paul D. Paul D., aka espdollar a student from Miami, Florida, designed a charm with deep symbolism. "The ball of blue fire represents energy. People have this power to change things but we usually keep it inside. Really dedicated people can bring it out and mold the world into a better place." Paul keeps busy by volunteering at AIDS hospices, participating in fundraisers, and educating his peers about HIV/AIDS. He endured several hurricanes last year, so he can understand the devastation in New Orleans. "I traveled there a month before Katrina. I would like to keep the pristine image of New Orleans in my head, but I need to face reality." Also a Virgin Mobile customer, "it’s very good that a large company can set aside the time to help youth express their opinions." He’s eager to see what our generation can for the world. "I see politicians and I think 'I know kids with better ideas, we could be better leaders.' I look forward to 20-30 years down the road when we’ll make better changes… we’re going to have to go in their with our mops and clean up their mess."
