California Water Crisis - 03.02.2009
Water conditions in California are becoming progressively worse. Despite recent rainfall, California reservoirs are dangerously low. Rationing may become necessary as well as peeling back restrictions that ensure water quality. What is at fault? Poor water infrastructure? Wasteful use? Unlucky weather?
i am scared... - 03.02.2009
water availability in california is quickly diminishing and people are not even alarmed. it's one of those disasters that seems so impersonal and far removed from one's reality, kind of like plane crashes and aids. people believe it could never affect them. but droughts are a huge problem and we really need to start using less water. conserve. conserve. conserve.
yeah, looks like rationing is the only option. an economist once told me that water is a renewable resource but i am starting to question that statement. our planet is getting so messed up with ever rising temperatures and dwindling rainfall, i think water might not be as renewable as some of us would like to think.
lots of stuff - 03.02.2009
I think that we should consider our faulty water infrastructure as well. We loose millions of gallons of fresh water a year on bad and leaking pipes. Just think about that. Also, I agree with marinab, when it gets down to it, we can make up water. It's all about conserving. I think, however, that we should dissuade and or get these huge cities in deserts to completely relook at how they use water today. As for who is at fault- we need stronger government enforcement of the Clean Water Act. Plain and simple. This is an act of human infringement on the capacities of nature, let's fix that.

Someone clearly cast a spell making the following things happen:
1) Stupify elected officials to the point of paralysis on water reform.
2) Blocked the rain.
3) Convinced home developers to communities in the middle of nowhere and stretch water supplies
4) Keep the general population ignorant to this crisis and keep them building swimming pools.
