Recently, a San Leandro school was asked to give out a religious flyer to its students. The handout included the statement, "The Bible's teaching on Peer Pressure and the only unfailing, permanent, eternal, and immeasurable Power to overcome negative Peer Pressure exert positive Peer Pressure during Middle School years." While some teachers protested, the church has a right due to a ruling that nonprofits--such as Boy Scouts, the YMCA, and religious organizations--have an equal right to distributing in the classroom.
Is it right to allow religious--or other--propaganda into public schools? What is the role of public schools vis a vis access to students/budding consumers? Do we make public schools a portal for reaching a captive audience?

You shouldnt be allowed to advertise a religion in a public school. If catholics want to advertise themselves in a catholic, then go right ahead, but no specific religion should be able to preach in a public school when the whole point of public schools is that its multi-cultural

Is there historical documentation that faith in God through Jesus Christ was the underlining factor of ethical thinking of the founding fathers of the United States of America?
Is it true that a latin term was used to mark our time year by year then that proclaimed " The Year of Our Lord" meaning Jesus Christ?

Advertising should definitely NOT be allowed in schools. Kids are already bombarded by advertisements on TV, in magazines, newspapers, etc. School is a learning environment, not a place where companies should try to persuade kids to buy their junk. Kids are very vulnerable and more strongly influenced by advertising than an educated adult. Advertisements will also distract kids away from the schoolwork.

Its a public school. THe constitution says that we don't have to have religion shoved at us. If it was a religious school, that s a different story. Otherwise its unconstitutional.
Not right - 01.20.2009
In the U.S. and many western countries, often it is a minority-minority school. Religions, race and ethnicity are all in free roam. Advertising the Biblie, specifically is incorrect. We should get to choose what religion we want to be in, if any religion at all, and not be bothered by our school. If they want to advertise, school's not the place to do it. This only makes tensions between religions shakier, which isn't supposed to happen. We should have a right to say no to this.
