A recent study says that 45 percent of high school students reported to drinking alcohol within the last month; 64 percent of these students also admitted to binge drinking. Binge drinking is classified as consuming five or more drinks in a row within a few hours. The study also reports that teenage binge drinkers are far more likely than their non-drinking peers to get involved in risky behaviors, such as sexual activity, smoking and physical violence. Teen binge drinkers are more than five times more likely to be sexually active with one or more partners, four times more likely to engage in physical fights and 19 times more likely to smoke cigarettes.
