Who Should Win? - 11.02.2006
By now, most everyone has heard staunch Republicans and Democrats rant about the importance of the upcoming elections. The Democrats believe that disapproval of the president's policies will lead them to victory in key swing states and they will regain control of congress. Republicans fear that, as President Bush put it, the elections will simply be "a referendum on Iraq" and way for anti-war voters to vent their anger against the president's party.
Democrats point to attacks against US troops in Iraq and anti-American sentiment abroad as examples that the War in Iraq both failed and has become a lost cause. They also advocate increasing the minimum wage, a tactic they believe will help the lower classes. Rather than say Iraq has had a negative effect, however, Republicans say that the fact that no terrorist attacks have been carried out on American soil in more than five years is proof that the War in Iraq and the War on Terror in general have been a success. They point to their recent support of tax cuts and the booming economy as proof that they have the right economic goals and agendas. So are the troubles in Iraq a sign that troops must leave or is the US on its way to winning the war against terror? Is the growing economy leaving the lower classes behind? Do Democrats or Republicans have the more complete agenda? Should the Republicans retain control or should Democrats take over?

Democratic Perspective - 11.08.2006
What alot of people do not understand is like the democratic goal. Yeah, plenty of people believe the war on terror is wrong and the troops should be withdrawn.. I personally don't support the cut and run policy or the neutralization one either. Because to be honest, by me living in one of the worst cities in Indiana, I can personally say its giving lower class people a harder time as far as getting a decent job. Minimum wage needs to be raised and the economy needs to be focused more on lower class. Why do the upperclass need tax cuts? It's not benefiting the lower class because its harder to get a job. Yesterday, Bill Clinton did make alot of sense as far as the farms in illinois to lower the gas prices. If we had a strong democratic president, we would have better stability for our country as a whole. Personally, I believe in my opinion the Republicans are just Fascists in the making because they always have 1 view which is they are right and the democratic people are all for just withdrawing the troops. Theres 2 sides to everything. If we was to withdraw, the "terrorists" will think america will give in to extreme demands.. If we was to stay, well we'd neutralize the country and Iraq will have a stable government. But recently, i've heard that in north korea they're testing a neuclear bomb. Is it because we're trying to barge into a country, change their government and they wanna find a nice way to destroy our troops? It's too multi-sided to even debate on this.
Republican response - 05.20.2007
You know, I don't really consider myself too much of a republican... but it seems that many here have liberal views with a lot of misinformation. In short, a lot of people here are liberal for incorrect reasons... First of all, raising minimum wage would make it harder for someone to get a job. If they don't wanna hire you at $5.15 an hour, why would they hire you at $5.30 or anything higher for that matter? The argument for the upper class tax cuts has to do with the trickle down effect. The theory is that if higher classes have money, they'll spend it. Seems simple right? They'll invest it in smaller buisinesses and in essence help provide more jobs for the poor classes. If upper classes were forced to give much of their earnings to the government, then it hurts motivation for people to become successful. Why would anyone work hard to make a buisiness successful if the government is just going to take all your money anyway? Those are the theories behind doing it. I don't know what your reasoning is that tax cuts make it harder for lower classes to get a job. If anything, it would help your odds. And I don't know how to tell you this, but yea republicans do think they are right. This is not any different than the democrats. It's politics man, that's how things go.
