Opinionated Views on Normal Society
By NOISEmaker Fotomaker (16, M, AR) NOISEmail FotomakerOpinionated Views on Normal Society

Ever since mankind has been separated by geographic location, the perception of what is "normal" has dramatically changed. North America offers astounding examples of this notion. In New York City or any other big city, people are rushed in the hustle and bustle of a concrete jungle. In contrast, in rural part of Nebraska, Texas, and Arkansas the population is not so caught up in what they are doing and they have time to soak in what's around them.

It is strange how one man's words can spark a debate inside another's head. A substitute teacher came in for the day and tried to show a display of hypothetical intelligence with statements about where a student should head for college. He asked questions like: "Why should you go to school here, spend five-thousand dollars a year, and get the same degree that you could've received in a lower standard school, to have it look the same on paper? The problem with many kids today is that they're not leaving their hometowns to find out what normal society really is."

"Abolishing racism"
As a student of Bentonville High School of Northwest Arkansas, I want to say that the quality of the education is what matters. This man was merely a fill-in teacher for a day who landed his degree in a community college in North Carolina! I hold nothing against him for that, but what he said about normalcy is greatly flawed. He claimed that normal society is drugs, gangs, crime, people out to get one-another, and having fear everyday. I have been born and raised in Arkansas. We are not the stigmatic hicks that people claim. I am proud of where I live because of the low amount of crime and the fact that other worldly corruptions occur outside of my boundaries. I see that when people treat each other with kind manners and say "Good Morning," to each other without speculation, this is normal.

In large cities, the aforementioned difficult challenges are a big part of routine, but that does not qualify them for the ultimate definition of normal. Humans are supposed to live together in harmony, and just because one chooses to stay where one was born does not mean he/she will never be educated to what the world holds. They will soon discover that much of the world is corrupt in their own perception, but because of where they are, they will perceive their own surroundings as normal society.
