The story goes that Roach was born in a cardboard box to a one-armed prostitute, and that he could swear faster and dirtier-in English and Spanish-than any man on the street by the time he was six years old. Ghost knows that Roach-who's real name is Alejandro-was really abandoned as a baby and left for his grandparents to raise. They constantly berated him, calling him horrible names and telling him because of his "mixed blood" he would never amount to anything.

What Roach did amount to was a very resourceful young man, heavily into petty theft and conning people. While he has done time in two juvenile detention centers, Roach has only escalated over the years into harsher crimes. He's not afraid of getting caught, going to jail, physical pain, or even death. The one thing Roach does fear is the legacy his mother left him with-that of abandonment.
