Since Bradley Benton III has no idea that his best friend at school is homeless, people might think that he's a self-absorbed jock-but that couldn't be further from the truth. Brad lives a lie every day, pretending to be a very masculine, tough sports freak when on the inside, he feels like he's falling apart.

Brad is a gifted artist, but the only person who knows that is Ghost. His life doesn't have room for art. Brad comes from a long line of wealthy businessmen, and he already has his future lying out before him like a pre-pressed suit. He will be inheriting his father's business-a leading technology firm that Brad has no interest in-and in the meantime is expected to go to college, find a wife, and produce offspring to carry on the family name.

Of course, if his father ever found out that Brad has no interest in any of these plans, he would not only lose his inheritance, but his family itself. So Brad quietly hides himself in very small corner of his being, where it grows more and more restless.
