I was checking out the PBS FRONTLINE/World site (they always let us know when they have interesting new stuff up so we can tell you guys about it) and they have a story about this computer software guy, Dr. Sugata Mitra, who started an experiment called the Hole in the Wall project. He literally put a computer with internet access in a wall that separates his office from a slum. He says at first the kids were like, "can we use it?" When he told them "yes", he found that it wasn't long before the kids were all over the computer and the web. Even with no previous computer experience! So he started putting up these computers in different places and the same thing happened. There's like a billion people in India and half are illiterate. So, I think it's cool that someone's trying to help. But I was just curious: Do you think that having access to the internet will really help kids rise out of poverty? And do you care that someone halfway around the world doesn't have internet access? How does that affect you?

There are people who are supposed to be on the low end of the social ladder and the high end of the social ladder.

in my opinion the internet is the best thing ever. I am very glad that these kids are getting a chance to use it and i hope someday everyone will have access. It will help them "rise out of poverty" because they will have access to unlimited knowledge. knowlege = understanding , understanding = acceptance , acceptance = tolerance , tolerance = peace.
