We Are Whales

Posted by:James Toney on 03/03/09

Over a hundred whales and dolphins were beached on King's island. That sucks. But I learned several valuable lessons:

1) Never be fooled, no matter how shallow the water you are in, things capable of killing you are ALWAYS near you in the ocean. You are never safe in water, never ever.

2) People in general (except Valerie) can do amazing things. People on King's Islands saved over 48 whales, many of which weighed over a ton.

3) We are like those whales and don't even realize it. It's really simple...there isn't enough water and unlike the whales, it takes more than making sure our blowholes are up, 30 people, and a massive stretcher to save us.

We need water infrastructure reform now and we are running out of time...our blowholes are in the sand

Twestival for the Restival

1 in 6 people don't have access to clean drinking water.  It is a staggering fact, though it is much more compelling from the young lady in the video below.  I have a lot in common with her...passionate about water, love people, same lip gloss.  My lip gloss be poppin.  Check out this video and twestivus with the restofus.

Just Add Water

Posted by:James Toney on 01/23/09

I perusing YouTube this morning and stumbled across the trailer for a movie called: "Just Add Water."  The movie is all about the water crisis in the Sudan.  My heart goes out to the Sudanese people...their fields are being torched, their women are being raped, and their lives are being taken if not by violence, then by forced circumstance.  Check out the movie and do something.

Water is my girlfriend

Posted by:James Toney on 11/15/08

You know what is better than drinking water? That question is subject how thirsty you are so it's hard to say.  Anyway so far, Drop has been absolutely amazing.  I knew a lot about water coming in.... it helps plants grow, it quenches thirst, it fills balloons, etc. I also knew that there was a terrible crisis that threatens life from West Africa to Los Angeles.  However, what I didn't know was that there is an amazing energy building around confronting this crisis.  People all over the world are coming together to provide access to, conserve, and protect clean water. I am very excited to say that ground zero for that energy has been the Parsons New School of Design in NYC at the Drop Summit.  I have been totally inspired and I can't wait to PARTY TONIGHT!

Give them Water

Posted by:James Toney on 11/11/08

It goes without saying how important water is.  We are like 78% water or something like that.  Water is a essential ingredient in wonderful products like: cake, play-doh, chocolate cake, and leggos.  In addition, water is magical and make us more healthy, more attractive, and more genius. Here are some people who like they could use some of those benefits.
