It's estimated that there are between 1.3 and 2.8 million youth living on the streets of the U.S today. Maybe it's the girl next to you on the bus. Or the clerk at the convenience store. Or even a friend of a friend. Many have been abused. Others don't know where to turn. Most feel they have no way out. So, what are you going to do to help find a solution? Join YouthNoise, and the RE*Generation to find solutions to Teen Homelessness in the United States.

Take Action For This Cause Homeless Youth Pride Walk It is a privilege to live in a safe and warm home surrounded by a family who loves and respects you - a privilege that is taken (sometimes with force) from the homeless youth that grace the streets of our nation. For almost 400,000 of these homeless youth, this privilege is stripped from them because they identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. The Gay Civil Rights movement is inseparable from the epidemic of homeless youth in America, because Queer youth now make up almost half of the homeless youth population.
These LGBT youth go on to be homeless, where they are more at risk than their heterosexual peers, for physical abuse, sexual exploitation, chemical or alcohol dependancy, discrimination and death. Do you know *13 youth die each day from homelessness? (Statemans Journal, 17 August 2008)*

Why I Support This Cause! Change. I myself am one also, i have been before and am now living with my friend in Fort Mac. I was originally living in calgary with my brother and was abused, and neglected. I hope kbradshaw's shelter worked :)
by: shaizu on 2009-04-28 09:18:191 homeless youth I support this cause because I am a homeless youth. I have been couch surfing since the end of November of '08. I live in Maine with my boyfriend and last month we took all of our money that we saved up and tried to make a move to Arizona. There was nothing there. We hotel hopped for a week or so and eventually found a roommate. Unfortunetly there just weren't any jobs and really no resources for youth. So we moved back but my parents turned their backs on me and I was on my own to find a warm place to sleep. Luckily, there are wonderful people out there who will open their homes to children and teenagers who need somewhere to stay until they get back on their feet. I believe that there should be more youth shelters and safe homes for kids to go to. I am going to a meeting today to start up such a shelter in my area. I'm excited for it because hopefully we'll be able to help at least a few people. :]
