Take Action For This Cause
Ban Chicken Imports from China
China's record of food safety problems, importing meat that could potentially be contaminated with salmonella or E coli is not in the public interest.

On-site inspections in China that have been conducted by U.S. inspectors. Here's what they found:

• unsanitary conditions in the facilities;
• defective equipment;
• improper employee hygiene;
• lack of pre-shipment review procedures;
• and the lack of microbial testing for Salmonella and generic E. coli;

These sorts of violations create serious food safety problems. Until China fixes its broken system, it's a good precaution to not allow poultry from China.

If you believe that Congress to protect U.S. consumers by not allowing processed chicken from China, sign this petition: action.foodandwaterwatch.org...

Why I Support This Cause!
Good nutrition is good health
I know how easy it is to eat badly. On my way to work, I walk by a McDonald's, a Burger King, several doughnut shops and a greasy diner. I hate to admit it, but sometimes that bacon or that glazed doughnut smells so good that I want to rush into the restaurant and eat my daily fat intake in one sitting. Unfortunately, a lot of people do just that. The average American eats three hamburgers and four orders of fries every week, a statistic that must make nutritionists cry. Good nutrition is such an important part of good health, yet it is the first thing we sacrifice when we get busy. It's much faster and easier to grab a fast-food burrito than to cook a well-balanced meal, but our health is suffering because of it. 17 percent of American children are considered obese, and they run high risks of suffering from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems in the future. We're young now, but these risks are only going to get more serious as we get older. We need to start taking care of our bodies now so we can live longer. If we each start making small, gradual changes in our diet and encouraging our friends and family to do the same, we can start to take back our health.
