Why I Support This Cause! Kick Addiction My father is a smoking addict, my friend's father an alchoholic. It needs to stop now, or else who knows what could happen. Pregnant addicts give birth to babies that are addicts and that just isn't right. They don't get a chance to have a wonderful life. Show respect to yourself and others and don't start, or get help. Please.

We all lose people to addictions. I have personally lost a few people in my life to addictions and watch several others battle with their on going additctions while telling me that they are fine and do not have a problem. The media plays such a big influence on it and i think its time that we be the role models and set examples for the young children of this world. I have a two year old sister and I am hoping to be the role model for her that i never had

People do not realise that the closest people in your family may be alcoholics. "Having a drink" every so often can amount to so much more, and there's so many things that come with addiction - denial, blame, self loathing, self esteem issues and so much more. If you think you're drinking too much, or can't refuse a drink, or someone close to you is similar, then Alateen or Alanon is the answer, it saved my life. An anonymous fellowship to help the families of those who have witnessed social drinking problems.
I think that the worldwide perception of drug and alcohol abuse is very misconstrewed, think of them as diseases : you would not blame someone with cancer for their disease, you would not take it out them the pain that it has caused you, the loss and heartbreak that it had brought to you for it is not their fault. A weird concept to get your head around, I know, but sometime's people lose control of their life and can fall into such things. Life in itself is an addiction - the key to accepting it is appreciating the person for who they are, not the things they do through their addiction. The key to understanding addiction is remembering that life from their end isn't too pleasant either.
