Millions upon millions of people are homeless, and the number is growing. Times are hard, and these people have it even harder. Every little bit helps. If everyone gave a little bit, it would go a long way. Food. Clothing. Money. Anything to help these people without a thing in the world to live on but hope. Give these people more than hope. Give them love. Give them compassion. Give them a little bit to make life easier and the light of hope brighter.

Why I Support This Cause! Do something now! We need to all pitch in and help! Could you imagine not having somewhere to sleep at night, and begging for food? People shouldn't have to live like that? Maybe we could pay for a hotel and food for them! Or even help them get a job and housing. Invite them for supper every night,,,do somehting! There are so many things we can do and it starts with one step. LETS DO IT!

Despite the new initiatives set up in many different areas to combat homelessness and drug addicition related to this situation. There still needs to be more action taken to help those truly in need.
by: conorjordan on 2008-09-12 04:20:152 My Friend Mel I am an 18 year old college student in Eugene, OR. This is by far one of the most "liberal" towns in the west. I have lived here for about a year now and I have taken time to meet some of the locals; including the homeless people in the area. I met a man named Mel in an ally one day. Some people look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them this. To make a long story short, I actually befriended Mel and took the time to get to know him. Throughout the year that man taught me more than I could ever dream about learning in classrooms. I have seen Mel get arrested on multiple occasions for no reason more than sitting outside my friend's apartment on a curb down an ally. I have heard his whole life story. I don't mean the story he makes up to put on a sign. I mean HIS life story. I know all about his sons and how his wife and best friend were killed in a car accident when he was 19. I have taken his advice on love, friendship, music, and even poetry. I have given him food, blankets, a backpack, and even let him sleep on my floor one night. This man has influenced me in so many ways. He is my brother. Every time I see him I hug him and talk to him. He may be dirty and slightly insane, but Mel is my reason for fighting homelessness. And of course the fact that this is fucking America! Come on! We really can't give these people anything? If you read this, do me a favor and make conversation with the next non-aggressive homeless person you see.
